ABOUT ME
MSc Clinical Animal Behaviour
BSc Animal Behaviour
Hey! I'm Lyndsay, and I'm the team captain of Team Dog! Having grown up with rescue dogs (my family had up to 4 at any one time!), my passion for dogs was ignited at a very young age.
After completing a degree in Animal Behaviour, immediately followed by a Masters degree in Clinical Animal Behaviour, I went on to travel for three years. During that time, I did everything from volunteering in a street dog shelter in Bali, to monitoring dingoes in rural Australia to running a dog café in Melbourne!
On returning home in 2018, I began working as dog walker, then a day care manager before completing an instructors course at an established training school to enable me to begin as trainer and behaviourist there in 2019.
In 2023, I decided the time had come to spread my wings and start Team Dog- Training + Behaviour.
I live with my stooge dog, sidekick and adventure buddy- Bedlington Whippet, Albie. He comes everywhere with me, knows all the tricks under the sun and is just an all round top lad.
ETHOS
Why 'Team Dog'?
My ethos is that the owner-dog relationship should be a team. There should be a team captain to lead their team, champion their team and advocate for their team- that's our bit as owners. We should work with our dogs to bring out the best in them, make them feel safe and lead them to make appropriate decisions.
I also feel that I'm on 'Team Dog' as a trainer and behaviourist. I'm here to help you better understand your dog, allow them to be heard and improve their daily lives to be a more content hound.
Team Dog trains pet dogs, and pet owners. Not gundogs, not working trials dogs, not agility champs. Just training your little mates to be happy, fulfilled and confident.
Using reward based methods, filling up your dog's proverbial 'cups' and providing outlets or alternative behaviours to help form a harmonious relationship between you and your teammate.
